What's black and white and redacted all over?
The Pentagon released a report yesterday that officials say will silence allegations that many US troops in Iraq have suffered severe mental trauma.
"There have been a lot of ugly rumors recently about troops experiencing severe anxiety, depression, nightmares, anger and even suicidal tendencies." said Lt. Col. Jim Wald, a Pentagon spokesperson. "But as this report shows, the troops are actually having a blast!"
The strangely untitled, one-page report appeared to have been heavily edited, with all but seven words covered over with black marker. Though the visible words were scattered across three paragraphs, they did form a coherent sentence: "The troops… are… having… a… blast… here."
As for the huge chunks of seemingly deleted text in between and around the non-deleted words, Wald explained they were "just typos."
