It's crazy how old I'm getting. I told these kids in my office — or should I say, adults — that I remember a time before the Internet. Based on their reactions, you would think I told them that I pre-date electricity. And don't get me started on rotary phones, VHS tapes, or road atlases.
I'm so old, I can even remember a time when there was a functioning democracy in the United States. Barely functioning, sure. But it worked, sorta. Sounds crazy now, but there was once a time when the GOP wasn't a death cult of lunatics trying to overturn an election because they lost. And the Supreme Court hadn't yet turned into "The Handmaid's Tale." And millions of people didn't believe the government was a cabal of satanical pedophiles. And gerrymandering by one side hadn't turned most House elections into a farce. And people could calmly watch or read the news without having to scream into a pillow.
Then again, we didn't have smart toilets. So there's that.
